They’re lots of traditions to be met when in London:
- drinking more beer than water
- visit something new visit
- buy a pair of new shoes in my fav shop
- eat a proper burger
Re the last one, this time I found one of the definitive places: better then hard rock cafè (but not as big), sticky fingers (but not so full of memorabilia), byron (and not so many franchises, Byrons are opening everywhere) or local pubs (and not so oily).
The original Honest Burgers opened in Brixton, I went to the brand new branch in Soho (4A Meard St., W1F0EF). The place is very small and I was lucky enough to grab an outdoor table for dinner (the kitchen closes at 10pm). They don’t take bookings.
The food menu provides for the essentials: 1 chicken burger, 3 types with beef and a vegetarian one. I had the honest one (ground beef, onion relish, melted cheddar cheese, smoked bacon and glazed bun…it’s not a burger without bacon!) and it was incredible! All the burgers come with an big pile of the delicious house chips and rosemary salt.
The ingredients (particularly the meat) come from certified farms (such as the ginger pig, how can you not love a place with such a name??) and the sauces are mostly homemade. You can really taste the difference!
If you’re not convinced yet, you have to know the prices are really reasonable (from £7.50 to £9) and a meal at Honest could make your celiac friend very happy: they serve gluten free bun on request!
